Product Review - Eyeko Mini Brush Mascara (Long & Tall)

I received this mini Eyeko mascara as a free gift with my recent online Beauty Bay order (that doesn't mean this is a sponsored review, it's just a deal that Beauty Bay offers) and am very pleased with it. This is the first Eyeko product I've ever tried and am happy to say that they've left me with good impressions!

Pros:

- Mini, convenient and ultra cute travel friendly brush
- Effectively lengthens the lashes, creating a fluttery effect
- Water-proof but fairly easy to remove (I use Bioderma Micellar Water)
- Pro-vitamin B formula (this promotes growth by preventing lash breakage and also assists in long-term lash care)
- Paraben Free Formula
- Small brush makes for very easy application
- Gives a more natural look. Definitely not your usual volumising and dramatic looking mascara.
- Doesn't smudge or flake easily

Cons:

- Quite a wet consistency so you need to be careful with clumping
- Definitely targets lengthening the lashes rather than volumising, so if you're not into that I would recommend trying a different mascara.

Personally, I love lengthening mascaras for my lashes and have been reaching for this one every day. If you spend a certain amount of money on Beauty Bay (click HERE to reach the site) you can receive a free gift, which is how I got this mascara. The free gifts change frequently however, so I'm not certain of what will be up for offer now.

Rrp: $19

What's your favourite mascara?

Country Getaway

Ever since I was a little girl, I've spent a few weeks each year up on my grandparents farm where my Mum grew up. It's about a three and a half hours drive from the city where I live, and consists of acres and acres of beautiful countryside. When my mother was growing up they had cows, chickens, sheep, dogs, cats, you name it. Now, because there's only my 98 year old Grandma living on it, there's just cows and a few crops but as you can imagine, there's always loads to do.

This past week I've been up on the farm and thought I'd bring along my good camera to take some pictures to share on my blog! I had a really fun week driving the ute, tending to the cattle, mushroom picking and catching up with all my relatives that live in the area. My Grandma's house is quite old and so it felt a little like I was camping but just with a roof over head haha. The toilets don't flush so you have to get buckets of water each morning to manually flush the toilet, the hot water doesn't work very well, there isn't any heating, limited amounts of wifi and reception and more than the odd mouse running around. I must say however, this did make it all the more fun because we had so many laughs and inside jokes by the end of the trip!

Being a country girl at heart, it was really nice to get out of the city for awhile, breathe some fresh air and also catch up with extended family.

When's the last time you had a change of scenery?

Vampy Lips | FOTD

Well well well...if it isn't another face of the day ;) I just want to mention before you look at the photos, that my macro lens really picked up the overdrawn lips and I apologise for that! It's pretty funny to look at though.

Mmmm wonky eyelash. Delightful.
Makeup Used:

- MAC Strobe Cream
- MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation in "NC20"
- NARS Creamy Concealer in "Vanilla" (under eyes and around nose)
- Elizabeth Arden Illuminating Highlighter Pen in "Light 1" (under eyes)
- Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in "Translucent"
- Benefit Hoola Bronzer
- MAC Blush in "Pinch Me"
- MAC Highlighter in "Soft&Gentle"
- MAC Eyeshadow in "Mystery" (to fill in brows)
- Benefit Gimme Brow Brow Gel in "Medium/Deep"
- Australis Clear Brow Gel
- Lorac Pro Eye Primer
- Lorac Pro Palette using the shades: "Cream", "Taupe", "Sable", "Espresso" and "Nude"
- Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner in "Trooper" (no winged eyeliner, just a subtle line)
- Models Prefer Black Kohl Eyeliner (on the waterline)
- Tweezerman Eyelash Curler
- Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara
- Katy Perry Eyelure Lashes in "Oh Honey"
- Lush Lip Scrub in "Bubblegum"
- Soap&Glory XL Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in "Clear" (I like to use plumping lim glosses to prime the lips on occasion. I just leave it on for 10 minutes and then wipe off the excess before applying lipliner and lipstick)
- Rimmel Lip Liner in "Cherry Kiss"
- MAC Satin Lipstick in "Media
- Urban Decay Makeup All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

Yikes, did I really put all of that on my face?! Today I went for the whole shebang; dark red lips, fakes lashes and black, sultry looking eyeliner. I love this look because it's Autumnal (appropriate for right now), makes my eyes pop and red lips are always fun to wear :)

Note: None of these photographs are edited and are taken in natural light so are true to colour.

What do you think?

Reflective Monday

Hey friends!

Bit of a different post today. I see this blog as an online journal to share my passions and opinions, and of late, this is what's been playing on my mind.

As you grow older, you begin to realise that a lot of people you befriend drift in and out of your life. Not everybody is guaranteed to stay there. But then there are those few people that stick around forever, no matter how long of a drive away they are or how many oceans separate you.

Then it got me thinking. These people in my life, that stay there forever, have one massive thing in common; their actions speak louder than their words. When they say they're there for me, they mean it. They'll come and see me face to face, send me a letter or do something that takes real effort.

I just wanted to say, for those people in your life that are always making an effort to be there when you need them, don't take them for granted. You'll begin to realise that people who stay true to their words, who do nice things for you and who will try and help you out regardless of whether they're capable, are people worth keeping in your life. People like this are rare, and you should treasure them like the special gems that they are :)

And to all those gorgeous people that send me letters, emails and travel oceans to see me, I love you very much and appreciate it more than words can say.

When's the last time you went out on a limb for someone?

xx

My No.1 Drugstore Foundation

The Bourjois Healthy Mix foundations are by far my favourite foundation range from the drugstore and I have repurchased them many times. In actual fact, I'm wearing it on my face as I type this! This is the only serum that I own from the range but I also have a few of the foundations in darker shades for when I'm tanned and they too, are excellent products.

Pros:

- Reasonable price
- Most of the shades have yellow undertones which suit my skin tone extraordinarily well
- Easy to blend
- Gives a gorgeous dewy finish
- Makes my skin look healthier and more radiant (as it claims to do)
- Doesn't break out or irritate my acne prone, sensitive skin
- Smells nice
- Does a good job of evening out the skin tone but without looking cakey. Let's the skin breathe.
- Build-able
- Comes with a pump so no messiness...winning!
- Vitamin rich

Cons:

- Doesn't have any SPF so you'd need to have some kind of SPF in your moisturiser or primer
- It probably isn't a great foundation if you have super oily skin but I'm sure if you used a good primer and setting powder you'd be okay!

I first heard about this foundation through EssieButton (you can find her YouTube channel HERE) and am so thankful I tried it out. I'm not really into wearing heavy makeup on a day to day basis and this foundation manages to even out my skin tone but without looking cakey and I absolutely love that about it. Not to worry though, if you like a bit more coverage in your foundation, it's also quite build-able, so a second layer would go a long way!

If you haven't yet tried this foundation, I'd highly recommend you give it a go. I promise you won't regret it!

Rrp: $32

Do you prefer a light coverage or a full coverage foundation?
