FOTD | Lady in Red

Hey guys!

As you may have noticed, I haven't been posting much (if at all) lately. I haven't stopped blogging altogether, it's a hobby that I will continue to keep doing for as long as I still enjoy it and I still do, but sometimes I just need a break. If I'm being entirely honest, it hasn't been the best year for me and my motivation to keep this blog up comes and goes but I'm back now and that's all that matters. Yay! :)

Now that I've got that out of the way, here is an FOTD that I did a little while back. This FOTD is more Winter appropriate and I know that it's Spring now (hallelujah) but knowing Melbourne weather, we'll still get loads of cold, wintery days so I'm sure this look will still be wearable.

FOTD Friday | Garnet

Products Used:

- MAC radiance primer
- MAC studio sculpt foundation in "NC20"
- MAC studio finish concealer in "NW15" (Under the eyes and around the nose. I lost my usual pale under eye concealer and so had to use this one. I'm not sure if it's meant for under the eyes so I had to use quite sparingly)

- MAC blush in "Pinch Me'
- Lorac Pro eyeshadow in "Nude" to highlight
- Anastasia Beverley Hills dip brow pommade in "Medium Brown" to fill in eyebrows

- MAC lipstick in "Please Me" (base)
- MAC lipstick in "Creme Cup" (centre)
- NYX butter gloss in "Creme Brûlée" (centre)
- Urban Decay all nighter setting spray

I'm totally in love with the shade "Garnet" from the Lorac Pro palette. This is the first time I've ever used it and can't believe it's taken me this long! I think this shade is underrated and I will definitely be wearing it more throughout Winter.

When's the last time you experimented with a new shade of eyeshadow?

FOTD | Fluttery Lashes & Rosy Cheeks

So admittedly, this FOTD was one that I photographed a few weeks back but since I've been dog-sitting our new puppy, I haven't been putting a lot of makeup on that you'd find interesting, nor have I had a lot of time to take new photographs. It's times like these that I have to say thank you to my past self for being so organised!

The main focus for this look was the lashes, rosy cheeks and winged liner. Everything else was kept to a minimum (e.g., eyeshadow, bronzer etc.).

 Products Used:

- MAC Strobe Cream
- MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation
- NARS Creamy Concealer in "Vanilla" (on blemishes and under the eyes)
- MAC Highlighter Pen in "Radient Rose" (under eyes and a little on the highlighting points of my face)
- NARS Translucent Powder
- Benefit Hoola Bronzer
- Illamasqua Blush in "Katie"
- MAC Highlighter in "Soft&Gentle"
- Anastasia Beverley Hills Dipbrow Pommade in "Medium Brown"
- Australis Clear Brow Gel
- Lorac Pro Eye Primer
- Lorac Pro Eyeshadow in "Nude" and "Champagne" over the lid, in the tear ducts and on the brow bone, and "Taupe" with a little "Sable" in the crease and under the eyes
- Kat Von D Eyeliner in "Trooper"
- Tweezerman Eyelash Curler
- Eyeko Long Lash Mascara
- Eyelure Katy Perry False Lashes in "Oh Honey"
- Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
- The Body Shop Lip Balm in "Strawberry"

Jumper:

- Boohoo.com

I really liked this face of the day, it was the perfect look for Winter and is totally wearable for during the day.

Vampy Lips | FOTD

Well well well...if it isn't another face of the day ;) I just want to mention before you look at the photos, that my macro lens really picked up the overdrawn lips and I apologise for that! It's pretty funny to look at though.

Mmmm wonky eyelash. Delightful.
Makeup Used:

- MAC Strobe Cream
- MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation in "NC20"
- NARS Creamy Concealer in "Vanilla" (under eyes and around nose)

- Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in "Translucent"
- Benefit Hoola Bronzer
- MAC Blush in "Pinch Me"
- MAC Highlighter in "Soft&Gentle"
- MAC Eyeshadow in "Mystery" (to fill in brows)
- Benefit Gimme Brow Brow Gel in "Medium/Deep"
- Australis Clear Brow Gel
- Lorac Pro Eye Primer
- Lorac Pro Palette using the shades: "Cream", "Taupe", "Sable", "Espresso" and "Nude"
- Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner in "Trooper" (no winged eyeliner, just a subtle line)
- Models Prefer Black Kohl Eyeliner (on the waterline)
- Tweezerman Eyelash Curler
- Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara
- Katy Perry Eyelure Lashes in "Oh Honey"
- Lush Lip Scrub in "Bubblegum"
- Soap&Glory XL Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in "Clear" (I like to use plumping lim glosses to prime the lips on occasion. I just leave it on for 10 minutes and then wipe off the excess before applying lipliner and lipstick)
- Rimmel Lip Liner in "Cherry Kiss"
- MAC Satin Lipstick in "Media
- Urban Decay Makeup All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

Yikes, did I really put all of that on my face?! Today I went for the whole shebang; dark red lips, fakes lashes and black, sultry looking eyeliner. I love this look because it's Autumnal (appropriate for right now), makes my eyes pop and red lips are always fun to wear :)

Note: None of these photographs are edited and are taken in natural light so are true to colour.

What do you think?

FOTD - Luminous, Dewy Skin & Coral - Red Lips

Hey guys!

Today I went to a concert with my Dad and this is the makeup look that I wore. It was a musical concert and in a fancy theatre so I thought that a simple look with a vibrant red lip would be the perfect balance between looking classy but not overly done up.

I went for glowing skin (which I'm obsessed with at the moment) but I did need to put a fair amount of powder on because it was a hot day today and I didn't want to look like a grease ball! My NARS translucent powder was the perfect powder to opt for as it manages to set my makeup but without a heavy matte finish.

For my lips I used my much loved 'Lady Danger' lipstick from MAC, accompanied by a Chi Chi lipliner. As my skin was fake tanned I went for a more warm toned, coral - red lipstick but if I had left my skin pale I would definitely have gone for a more cool toned lipstick such as 'Ruby Woo'.

Last but certainly not least, I used my Lorac Pro palette to do a light bronze and brown eye. I used dark brown eyeshadow for eyeliner because I wanted to keep everything simple. Done up, but simple.

What it looks like from camera phone - Instagram Pic :)

My Everyday, 'No Makeup' Makeup Products

Sometimes it's nice to sit down and take your time applying makeup, putting effort into every little detail and perfecting a marvellously even winged eyeliner. On the other hand, it's also sometimes necessary to apply your makeup in a matter of fact fashion, no fussing about and no fiddling with silly winged liners. Or maybe you're just not in the mood to wear a lot of makeup. Whatever the reason, I'm here to show you the products I use on my face when I'm either not in the mood for wearing a lot of makeup or just simply don't have the time! You're welcome :)

1. Nars Creamy Concealer (I find blending with a beauty blender gives the best results)
2. Bare Minerals Original Powder Foundation
3. Hoola Bronzer by Benefit
4. Illamasqua Blush in 'Ambition'
5. MAC Highlighter in 'Soft & Gentle'
6. Gimme Brow, Brow Gel in 'Medium/Deep' by Benefit
6. Tweezerman Eyelash Curler
7. Tarte 'Lights Camera Lashes' Mascara
8. Nyx Butter Gloss in 'Creme Brûlée'
9. Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray (I don't always use this)

Now when I said this is quite a natural look, I meant it. If it's too minimalist you can obviously add more products to your face but this will just give you an idea. It may look like a lot of products in the picture but it's really not at all. I don't apply much of each product either, only the bare minimum to even out my skin tone and hide my under eye bags!

Excuse the bushy brows! I'm currently in the painful process of growing them out until they're ready to be re-shaped.

The result is a very natural but clean and fresh look that lasts all day long. The great thing about using a concealer that doesn't crease and a powder for foundation is that my face doesn't melt away or change throughout the day, I can promise you it is much more long-wearing than a liquid foundation (surprising, I know!). Occasionally I mix up my lip products, but this is just what I've been wearing a lot lately.

What are your favourite 'no makeup' makeup products?

Playing With Makeup

Quite often I find myself sitting on the floor in front of my mirror, makeup sprawled out all around me, practising. I like to try looks that I wouldn't ever wear out of the house. Crazy, extravagant or just purely experiential.

This is a look I created the other day using my new Kat Von D tattoo eyeliner (which I can guarantee is worth the purchase). I ended up doing a simple cut crease using my Lorac Pro palette, a big cat wing and then continuing on applying the eyeliner all around my eyes. I'm not too sure what you call this kind of eyeliner technique...anyone know? I finished off the look with my favourite Ardell natural, demi false lashes, my usual face makeup routine and a pink lip liner and lipgloss.

Although I'm not sure I would wear this look out of the house on a regular day, it would be a great idea for a costume party. I think that with a few feathers and a few adjustments to the eyebrows, this could make a great makeup look for a bird costume or something of the like.

I had a great time experimenting with this look and thought it would be fun to show you something new.

Do you often find yourself experimenting and playing around with makeup?

Outfit & Makeup Look Of The Night

Hey! How are you guys?

Living on college usually entails a lot of parties and nights out, last night being one of them. I love getting myself all dressed up and doing a full face of makeup and last night I was very happy with the outcome so I thought I'd share it with you!

I usually tend to stick with the same makeup when I go out, a bronze smokey eye. I used my new Too Faced Naturals eyeshadow palette and there literally is not one colour that I don't like, it's awesome! I would definitely recommend investing in one of these palettes if you're a neutral gal at heart like I am. I also have been loving my Katy Perry false eyelashes and you can find a review of them HERE.

With my outfit I kept it quite simple and comfortable. I laugh at my High School self wearing huge heels to parties and complaining about my sore feet for days after....why did I used to do that to myself? Usually when I go out now I refuse to wear any heel past an inch or two as you just can't have as much fun! As for the fluro singlet top I was little skeptical when I first bought it but absolutely adored how vibrant and eye catching it ended up looking against my tanned skin (fake tan obviously ha ha).

I've listed all my clothing items and where they are from down below, as with the makeup products I used on my face.

- MAC prep+prime primer
- MAC studio sculpt foundation
- Maybelline age rewind concealer

- Katy Perry "Oh Honey" false lashes by Eylure

Baby Doll Makeup & Hair Look

Long time no see blogger friends!

I created this baby doll look at random because I really wanted to make use of my new, ever so cute head band from TopShop and was really proud of the outcome. You would never guess I'm 18 years old in these pictures, I look about 5! Ha ha.

Had to include my ridiculous face on the far right

Hair:

So admittedly I didn't do my hair for this look, the hairdresser did it. I did however ask her to teach me her magnificent ways because I'm hopeless at trying to style my hair.

Basically, to create this hairstyle you need some volumising and heat protectant spray, any other styling products you use is totally up to you. Once you've worked the heat protectant into your hair, simply blow dry small sections of your hair using a cylinder hair brush to brush down and curl at the ends. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this very well but never mind, I'll continue doing my best.

Last of all, take the top section of your hair, right on the top of your head, and work some volumising spray/mousse (whatever you fancy) into your roots. Then continue on blow drying and curling! Easy peasy lemon squeezey.

To finish off the baby doll look I wore this pink bow head band from TopShop

Makeup:

As you can see I went for very simple eye makeup, focusing on the lashes and a cute winged liner. On my cheeks I used a very light, pale pink blush and matched up my lips with my cheeks by wearing a similar colour.

The foundation I used is extremely light and weightless, looking very much like my natural skin.

On my face:

- MAC Prep+Prime Primer
- Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation in "B10"
- Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in "Ivory" (for blemishes)
- Elizabeth Arden Sheer Lights Illuminating Pen in the shade "Soft" #01
- Rimmel Stay Matte powder in #001 Translucent
- Benefit Hoola Bronzer
- Illamasqua blush in "Katie"
- MAC eyeshadow in "Mystery" to fill in the brows
- MAC clear gel brow set
- MAC prep+prime primer in the shade "Light"
- theBalm Nude 'tude palette using: Sassy, Stubborn, Stand-offish, Sultry and Sleek
- Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl eye pencil in #005 "Nude" for the waterline
- Models Prefer black Kohl eyeliner for the tight line
- theBalm Schwing liquid eyeliner in "Black"
- Maybelline Volum' Express Falsies mascara
- Daiso fake lashes
- MAC matte lipstick in "Please Me'
- Revlon plumping lipgloss in the shade "Rosy Pout"

What do you think of this look? Would you wear it or is it too borderline childish?

Just Call Me Four Eyes

So recently I got two new pairs of glasses and I'm extremely happy with them. I don't have terrible eyesight but I definitely don't have clear vision and I find it difficult to see things far away (which is not helpful in lectures trying to see the powerpoint!).

I purchased my first glasses in Year 11 but I really didn't like the look of them so would avoid wearing them as much as I could and just continue to squint my way around (not good for your eyes just FYI). My old glasses were the thin rectangle shape and made me look very much like an old librarian. I'm here to tell you however, that if you're in a similar situation to my Year 11 self...this doesn't have to be the case!

Don't avoid wearing glasses or getting your eyes checked because you don't want to look silly like I did. I've had so many compliments on my new glasses and it's just made me realise that glasses can actually be stylish and can even enhance how you look (dare I say it!). You just have to find the right ones for you and your facial features.

A few tips I have on making glasses look good are as follows:

  • Make sure your eyebrows are filled in neatly. This really pulls the look together.
  • Go easy on the eye makeup and just go for neutral colours. I find this really helps to prevent everything looking too much and overpowering.
  • Take time to pick the right glasses for you. Ignore any trends and be adventurous. You might surprise yourself with what you can pull off!
  • Generally I like to go for a flawless foundation look but you totally don't have to. This is just what I've done in the pictures below.

I bought both pairs of glasses from Specsavers in Prahran and would highly recommend this place to anyone. The staff were very friendly, helpful and took the time to give their opinion on the many glasses that I tried on...not to mention it was also very cheap at only $40 for both pairs!

...But if all else fails, contact lenses are pretty awesome ;) Haha.

Do you wear glasses?
