My Current Non-Beauty Favourites

Hi All, how are you?

I was considering whipping up another product review of my favourite mascara or foundation but that seemed a little mundane. Instead, I'm going to list all of my non-beauty favourites at this current moment...enjoy!

1. The Divergent Series -

Last month I decided to embrace the inner teeny bopper inside of me and read the whole Divergent series in one week. I absolutely loved them! Not only does the author, Veronica Roth, take you on a thrilling adventure that keeps you constantly on your toes, intertwined with a love story that melts your heart, she also explores the ideas of identity and the understanding of who you are and what you stand for. I would highly recommend you read these books, especially before watching the first Divergent movie.

2. The Fault in Our Stars -

Firstly, can I just say, that I haven't read the book. I know it's a crime but I'll get there, I definitely will.

This is 100% my new favourite movie of all time. Watching this movie made me smile, cry (a LOT) and strangely enough, walk out not feeling grief stricken but with a sense of hope. A realisation that life should be celebrated, love should be shared and living in the moment is more important than anything else because you never know what's around the corner. If you haven't yet seen this movie, I highly recommend that you do, just be sure to have a box of tissues at the ready.

3. John Mayer, Don't Stop This Train -

It seems a little odd to be including a song as part of my favourites list. Maybe because it's not a tangible item that I would usually write about, but nevertheless it deserves to be a part of this post. We all know how brilliant John Mayer is as a guitarist, and this is no exception. The song is chill, something you listen to when you want to relax. The lyrics are completely relatable, the feeling of time catching up on you, getting older without being ready. Somehow though, like The Fault in Our Stars which I mentioned above, he manages to make light of the situation. My next challenge is to learn how to play this song on guitar myself, reckon I can do it?

4. Eggpant Door Stop by Mozi -

Funny story behind this one. My Aunty conducted a fun present giving game on Christmas day and my Dad ended up with this door stop (which my Mum bought as a joke and believe me, we had a good laugh! haha). As my Dad has no use for this door stop and my bedroom door has a mind of it's own, never seeming to hold it's own place, I acquired this hilariously cute piece of furniture...and I love it! If you're ever looking for a cute present or house decoration similar to this one, Mozi is your one stop shop.

5. Watermelon 4S iPhone Case by Sportsgirl -

I'm sure that many of you non-dinasaurs have upgraded your iPhone's since the prehistoric ages but I, however, haven't. You have no idea how difficult it is to find an iPhone 4S case these days without ordering online! Anyway, I found this super cute case in Sportsgirl the other day for only $9.95. The clear case is hard backed, super smooth and is covered in black polka dots and watermelons. Loves!

6. Herbal Tea -

I've never been a huge tea drinker in the past but lately, these past couple of months, I'm honestly obsessed with it. Herbal tea makes me feel so hydrated and good on the inside that I drink probably 3-4 cups a day now, which is pretty insane for me. My favourite herbal teas are rosehip with lemongrass and ginger, green tea with lemon and peppermint.

What are your non-beauty favourites at the moment? Would love to know!

Product Review - Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Shower Gel & Body Scrub

Behold the most delicious smelling products you will ever come across! Honestly if I could eat these I would...my friend on college tasted a little and it's not recommended.

I wasn't aware Soap & Glory was now retailing in Australia but was pleasantly surprised as I was wondering through David Jones...or was it Myer? I can't exactly remember. I do remember however how ecstatic I was over my new discovery and was quick to snaffle up a few products!

Shower Gel:

Pros:

  • This shower gel has a citrus but also very sweet scent that I can't quite put my finger on. Nevertheless it's incredible.
  • The packaging looks super cute and colourful on my shelf.
  • It contains some great ingredients such as lime oil, coolcapsule x, kiwi waterjuice and a skin softening omega-rich veggie oil.
  • This shower gel is very conditioning and leaves your skin feeling healthy and soft.
  • Did I say it smells amazing?
Cons:
  • It should be edible.

Body Scrub

Pros:
  • This body scrub has a similar, delicious smelling scent to the shower gel which you too will fall in love with.
  • The packaging looks super cute and colourful on my shelf.
  • It contains some great ingredients such as smashed brown sugar, sweet lime, almond oil and macadamia grains.
  • It's quite moisturising so doesn't leave your skin feeling dry or damaged after exfoliation.
  • It's gentle on the skin.
  • It has a creamy consistency so doesn't fall off the skin while exfoliating.
Cons
  • It gives quite a gentle exfoliation compared to some others that I own, so if you're looking for something to remove patchy fake tan etc, I wouldn't recommend this one.

All in all as a first timer, I love and would highly recommend trying out these Soap & Glory products!

Have you tried any Soap & Glory products? What are your favourites?

January Favourites

Considering I've been blogging since November 2013, I figured it was about time that I did a monthly favourites. I love reading these types of blog posts and watching them on YouTube so here, I am going to do my very own.
Sit down, relax, make a cup of tea...this is going to be a long one!

1. MAC Sheen Supreme lipstick in 'Bare Again'.

I've been meaning to write a blog post about this amazing lipstick for yonks! I'd like to say I have an excuse for not doing it but really, who am I kidding...I'm just incredibly lazy *sigh*. Seriously though, I cannot recommend this lipstick enough. Very moisturising, very easy application and an absolutely gorgeous, natural finish. I find myself reaching for this lipstick more than any other lip product I own as I never feel like my makeup look is quite complete without it. This lipstick is really nice when you're going for a natural look on an everyday basis or if you've gone for big, extravagant eyes and want to finish off your look with a simple lip colour.

Rrp: $36 (this lipstick is possibly a limited addition)

2. LOREAL True Match Foundation in 'N2 Vanilla'.

Hands down my favourite foundation of this month...and several months before that too. I've written a product review on this foundation already which you can check out HERE.

Rrp: $29.95

3. REVLON Super Lustrous Plumping Lipgloss in 'Rosy Pout' #04.

The name of this lipgloss is a little misleading as it doesn't do the best job at plumping your lips, but it makes up for it's lack of plumping in all other departments. I find this lipgloss to have a very natural, non-sticky formula and the colour is gorgeous. Basically, this lipgloss is one of those staples that everyone has lying in their handbag at some point or another, ready at hand when your lips are in desperate need of a pick-me-up, or even to finish off a lipstick with a nice gloss. I find myself applying this product over the top of lipsticks often as it makes my lips seem bigger and more lustrous.

Rrp: I bought this lipgloss on sale for $10 but I can't find it on the website which gives me a bad feeling it's not on sale anymore. Sad face. Worth having a check in your nearest drug store though!

4. MAC Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder/Pressed.

This product is a definite must have. If you haven't already heard of the glorious transparent powder, it's basically a white coloured powder that you can apply over the top of your foundation or complete face of makeup to help set the makeup you've applied and to help it last longer (of course it applies transparent and not white). You can also transform any creamy lipstick into matte, just by dabbing a bit of transparent powder over the top. Genius! The reason this product has made it to my January favourites is because it's been a stinking hot Summer here in Australia and when your face starts to sweat, your makeup tends to slide off and applying a bit of transparent powder now and then throughout the day helps to keep it all in place. That and who likes to walk around with a sweaty upper lip? Not me, that's for sure.

Rrp: $42

5. MAYBELLINE eyeshadow palette in 'Chic Naturals'.

In my opinion, no makeup bag is complete without a natural eyeshadow palette that can be used on an everyday basis. This is just that. Simple, beautiful shades that I can apply without seeming too obnoxious. Although this palette has shimmer and I might prefer it if it didn't, it was a very cheap palette from the drug store, the pigmentation is quite good and the colours are just devine. Since I've been using this palette, I've had so many compliments on how I've done my eye makeup. I highly recommend you get your greasy little hands on this one!

Rrp: I bought this eyeshadow palette at Chemist Warehouse for $15. I'm quite certain they are still on sale as I've seen them in many drug stores of late but am unable to find the original price on the internet. Still worth having a look in your nearest drug store!

6. SPORTSGIRL Self Tan Cream.

Slightly ironic that I'm saying one of my favourite products from the middle of Summer is a bottle of fake tan, but I'm one of those people that tends to become a hermit inside on a really hot day rather than go lying in it (yep, I'm a Winter person through and through)...so in this case, it's very necessary!  This fake tan is cheap but most of all is an easy application with no streaks and gives you a beautiful, healthy and natural looking glow without it actually looking like you've applied any fake tan. Nobody to date has recognised I've fake tanned myself when using this product, but rather thought I'd just been out and about in the sun (little do they know.. hehe). It does wash off after a couple showers but is so easy to re-apply and you can prolong it's life by regularly applying moisturiser.

Rrp: $12.95

7. TONI&GUY Heat Protect Spray.

I started using this heat protect spray more and more throughout January for the sole reason of my hair needing a little extra TLC throughout the hot, Summer days. I love the smell of this spray and I find it does it's job of protecting my hair from heat and de-frizzing (we all know how crazy, frizzy our hair can get on a really hot Summer day) nicely. Easy buy from the supermarket and definitely worth each cent.

Rrp: $17.47

8. LUSH Popcorn Lip Scrub.

You may be very confused and surprised to see this in my monthly favourites considering I spent my the whole product review post on this scrub complaining (if you haven't read the product review, you can do so HERE) but it's somehow made it...
Well don't fret. I still stand by my words in saying this lip scrub smells and tastes horrible, but it's just so convenient! I don't have the time (or more to the point, I'm lazy..damn it) to make my own lip scrubs all the time and have been finding myself picking this product up weekly.
I'm going to have to buy this baby in bubblegum flavour as I hear it is much more pleasant smelling and tasting than the popcorn scrub.

Rrp: $9.95

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think? What were your favourite products of January?
