DIY College Ball

Hi Guys!

The other night I had my College Ball and am proud to announce I did my own fake tan, makeup AND hair all by myself. I figured I'd had enough practice with doing my makeup etc. that I should save my money and use the many materialistic, beauty related things I already own. It was difficult not to cave in and book myself a few appointments but I resisted the urge and was very pleased with the outcome.

This is how it looked...

Makeup:

- MAC prep+prime primer
- MAC Studio Sculpt foundation
- Maybelline Age Rewind concealer
- Elizabeth Arden Sheer Lights Illuminating Pen in the shade "Soft" #01
- Rimmel Stay Matte powder in #001 "Translucent"
- Hoola Bronzer by Benefit
- MAC powder blush in "Pinch Me"
- MAC highlighter in "Soft and Gentle"
- MAC eyeshadow in "Mystery" to fill in eyebrows
- MAC clear brow gel
- MAC prep+prime eye primer in the shade "Light"
- Models Prefer Kohl eye pencil in "Black" on smudged out on the outer corner of the eye
- theBalm Nude'tude palette using: Sassy, Sultry, Sleek and Serious
- Models Prefer Black Kohl eye pencil in "Black" on the tight line
- Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl eye pencil  in #005 "Nude" on the waterline
- theBalm Schwing liquid eyeliner in "Black" for the cat eye
- Maybelline Volum' Express Falsies mascara in "Black"
- MAC lip liner pencil in the shade "Brick"
- MAC matte lipstick in the shade "Ruby Woo"
- Eylure Katy Perry False Lashes in "Oh Honey"
- Napoleon Perdis Makeup Setting Spray

Fake Tan:

- Bondi Sands tanning mousse in the shade "Dark" (I used two coats)

Hair:

- Toni&Guy shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair
- TRESemme keratin smooth heat protection shine spray
- GHD hair straightener

Outfit:

- Dress from Lipsy London
- Earrings from Lovisa
- Shoes from Zu

The night was fantastic and if I could do it all over again, I would. I was super happy that I didn't waste a tonne of money on getting my hair and makeup done and in the future I will continue to do everything myself. It's also a great idea because it eliminates the risk factor of hating what the hair stylist or makeup artist has done, which can result in a complete waste of money.

Note: It's a good idea to practice your hair and makeup look before the event just in case you need to make a few changes and to ensure you're 100% happy with how it looks.

Have any of you done your hair and makeup for a ball or do you prefer to get it done?

xx

Product Review - Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Shower Gel & Body Scrub

Behold the most delicious smelling products you will ever come across! Honestly if I could eat these I would...my friend on college tasted a little and it's not recommended.

I wasn't aware Soap & Glory was now retailing in Australia but was pleasantly surprised as I was wondering through David Jones...or was it Myer? I can't exactly remember. I do remember however how ecstatic I was over my new discovery and was quick to snaffle up a few products!

Shower Gel:

Pros:

  • This shower gel has a citrus but also very sweet scent that I can't quite put my finger on. Nevertheless it's incredible.
  • The packaging looks super cute and colourful on my shelf.
  • It contains some great ingredients such as lime oil, coolcapsule x, kiwi waterjuice and a skin softening omega-rich veggie oil.
  • This shower gel is very conditioning and leaves your skin feeling healthy and soft.
  • Did I say it smells amazing?
Cons:
  • It should be edible.

Body Scrub

Pros:
  • This body scrub has a similar, delicious smelling scent to the shower gel which you too will fall in love with.
  • The packaging looks super cute and colourful on my shelf.
  • It contains some great ingredients such as smashed brown sugar, sweet lime, almond oil and macadamia grains.
  • It's quite moisturising so doesn't leave your skin feeling dry or damaged after exfoliation.
  • It's gentle on the skin.
  • It has a creamy consistency so doesn't fall off the skin while exfoliating.
Cons
  • It gives quite a gentle exfoliation compared to some others that I own, so if you're looking for something to remove patchy fake tan etc, I wouldn't recommend this one.

All in all as a first timer, I love and would highly recommend trying out these Soap & Glory products!

Have you tried any Soap & Glory products? What are your favourites?

Baby Doll Makeup & Hair Look

Long time no see blogger friends!

I created this baby doll look at random because I really wanted to make use of my new, ever so cute head band from TopShop and was really proud of the outcome. You would never guess I'm 18 years old in these pictures, I look about 5! Ha ha.

Had to include my ridiculous face on the far right

Hair:

So admittedly I didn't do my hair for this look, the hairdresser did it. I did however ask her to teach me her magnificent ways because I'm hopeless at trying to style my hair.

Basically, to create this hairstyle you need some volumising and heat protectant spray, any other styling products you use is totally up to you. Once you've worked the heat protectant into your hair, simply blow dry small sections of your hair using a cylinder hair brush to brush down and curl at the ends. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this very well but never mind, I'll continue doing my best.

Last of all, take the top section of your hair, right on the top of your head, and work some volumising spray/mousse (whatever you fancy) into your roots. Then continue on blow drying and curling! Easy peasy lemon squeezey.

To finish off the baby doll look I wore this pink bow head band from TopShop

Makeup:

As you can see I went for very simple eye makeup, focusing on the lashes and a cute winged liner. On my cheeks I used a very light, pale pink blush and matched up my lips with my cheeks by wearing a similar colour.

The foundation I used is extremely light and weightless, looking very much like my natural skin.

On my face:

- MAC Prep+Prime Primer
- Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation in "B10"
- Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in "Ivory" (for blemishes)
- Elizabeth Arden Sheer Lights Illuminating Pen in the shade "Soft" #01
- Rimmel Stay Matte powder in #001 Translucent
- Benefit Hoola Bronzer
- Illamasqua blush in "Katie"
- MAC eyeshadow in "Mystery" to fill in the brows
- MAC clear gel brow set
- MAC prep+prime primer in the shade "Light"
- theBalm Nude 'tude palette using: Sassy, Stubborn, Stand-offish, Sultry and Sleek
- Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl eye pencil in #005 "Nude" for the waterline
- Models Prefer black Kohl eyeliner for the tight line
- theBalm Schwing liquid eyeliner in "Black"
- Maybelline Volum' Express Falsies mascara
- Daiso fake lashes
- MAC matte lipstick in "Please Me'
- Revlon plumping lipgloss in the shade "Rosy Pout"

What do you think of this look? Would you wear it or is it too borderline childish?
