Naturally Beautiful

Being the terrific procrastinator that I am, this past week I've sat at my desk and gone through not only every Harry Potter movie, but also THREE of the Twilight movies. Yeah good one Issy, you're going to do really well in Uni.

Anyway, one thing that was really brought to my attention in both of these magical sagas was how naturally beautiful the characters Hermoine Granger and Bella Swan looked. Perfect skin, soft wavy hair and tinted lips. I think this look is so simple yet so gorgeous and it's inspired me to have a go at it myself.

It reminded me that although I love getting fancy and applying a tonne of makeup (let's be honest here), sometimes less is more. And I'm not so naive as to think these actresses just get out of bed in the morning looking as they do in these movies, obviously they've had their hair and makeup done, but it's applied in such a way that as a viewer you can hardly tell at all...the 'no makeup' makeup look. I love it.

I found a few photos of me around the age of 14/15 that reminds me a lot of how these characters are made to look. I didn't cover my face in products and I left my hair natural and wavy. At the time I didn't appreciate having nice skin which is sad because I could only wish to still look like I did in these pictures (which I've provided below).

I think it's time for me to hit the skincare hardcore and the eyebrow waxing/tinting pronto. Haha.

What do you guys think of this look and would/do you wear it often?

  1. Love these girls! Always so stunning. I think this look suits you too! It scares me to go out with so little coverage on my face, but girls should do it more often! X

    1. It scares me too but I've heard the YSL foundations are really good for this kind of look so I think I'll try and get the best of both worlds haha!

  3. aww you look gorgeous and your skin is so radiant! I think that from time to time.. as I've gotten older, it's become easier just to hide tired eyes and a multitude of sins under concealer! Especially when I'm working on deadline..
